KG_Valencia (4. nap) - Kincsvadászat & kripták / València (Day 4) - Hunting & haunting

A csütörtöki óráink voltak eddig a legjobbak szerintem. A Goosechase nevű alkalmazással foglalkoztunk. Ezzel az alkalmazással kincsvadászatot lehet játszani. Különböző feladatokat, kihívásokat állíthatunk össze a tanulóknak, akik ezután jásztva szerezhetnek ismereteket egy városról, parkról vagy múzeumról. Minket is kiküldtek az Óvárosba, ahol 15 küldetést kellett végrehajtanunk másfél óra alatt. Voltak nehéz feladatok is, például az El Camino jelzést sehogy se sikerült megtalálnunk. Egy csapat apáca segítségét is igénybe vettük, de ők se tudták, hogy hol van. Az biztos, hogy olyan helyeit fedeztük fel a városnak, amit enélkül biztosan nem. Még Raquel, a tanárunk is mondta, hogy olyan helyeken jártunk, amit nem is ismer, pedig ő tősgyökeres valenciai.

Our Thursday classes have been the best so far in my opinion. We worked with an app called Goosechase. With this app you can play a treasure hunt. You can set up different tasks and challenges for the students, who can then hunt and learn about a city, a park, a museum or anything you want. We were also sent to the Old Town, where we had to complete 15 missions in an hour and a half. Some of the tasks were difficult, for example we couldn't find the El Camino insignia. We also had the help of a group of nuns, but they didn't know where it was either. We certainly discovered places in the city that we would not have done without it. Even Raquel, our teacher, said that we visited places she didn't know, even though she is a native Valencian.

Raquel még hétfőn szólt, hogy csütörtökönként 21 órától vezetett túrát tartanak az Iglesia San Juan del Hospitalban, úgyhogy ez volt erre a napra az esti programom. A hely egyébként egy templom, kórház és temető egyben. Mi a temető részét néztük meg, ami Valencia egyetlen megmaradt középkori temetője. Röviden a hely történetéről: I. Jakab aragóniai király (akinek a második felesége magyar volt: Magyarországi Jolán, II. András lánya) miután visszahódította Valenciát a móroktól, felépíttette ezt a templomot 1238-ban. Valenciában minden középkori templomot egy mecset helyére húztak fel, kivéve ezt, ami az emír palotájának helyére épült. Azelőtt pedig egy római cirkusz volt a területen. Az arénát kettéosztó válaszfal (spina) maradványa még ma is látható a kriptákban. A király a templomot a Jeruzsálemi Szent János Ispotályos Lovagrendnek adományozta, akiket ma máltai lovagrendként ismerünk. Ők építettek kórházat a templom mellett. És mivel a kórházban sokan meghaltak, egy temetőt is kialakítottak. A halottakat lábbal Jeruzsálem irányába temették el. A kőkeresztek egy része még mindig megvan. Ezen kívül a templom udvara alatt is találtak testeket, a helyüket fémkeretek jelzik a járólapban, de még mindig nem találtak meg mindenkit.

Raquel had told us on Monday that there are guided tours of Iglesia San Juan del Hospital on Thursdays from 9pm, so that was my evening programme for the day. The place is a church, hospital and cemetery in one. We visited the cemetery part, which is the only remaining medieval cemetery in Valencia. A brief history of the place: King James I of Aragon (whose second wife was Hungarian: Jolán of Hungary, daughter of Andrew II) after reconquering Valencia from the Moors, had this church built in 1238. All medieval churches in Valencia were built on the site of a mosque, except this one, which was built on the site of the emir's palace. Before that, there was a Roman circus on the site. The remains of the spina that divided the arena can still be seen in the crypts. The king donated the temple to the Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John, now known as the Order of Malta. They built a hospital next to the church. And because many people died in the hospital, they also built a cemetery. The dead were buried with their feet towards Jerusalem. Some of the stone crosses still remain. In addition, bodies have been found under the churchyard, their locations marked by metal frames in the paving slabs, but not all of the bodies have been found.

Az esti túra után még sétáltam egyet a városban és elfogyasztottam az elmaradhatatlan horchatát.

After the evening tour, I took a walk around the town and had the inevitable horchata.
