Madeira - VE - 5. nap
Ötödik nap
Elérkezett a képzés ötödik napja. Szerencsére a tanárunknak
Amikor
visszamentünk, akkor kellett előadnunk a pár napja választott témát.
Miután megkaptuk a tanfolyamon való részvételről szóló igazolást, érzékeny búcsút vettünk egymástól.
Persze, itt
tényleg a turizmusból élnek.
népviseletbe öltözve árulták a virágot a piac előtt.
nálunk a függőágyakat varrják.
Mi is megkóstoltuk, igen finom. Jó hidegen adják, a citrus hűsít,
Ezután következik a méz.
szerintem más alakú pohárból is ugyanúgy élvezhető lesz.
készítik eperrel is.
iható a csapvíz.
Kizárólag a blog írására való tekintettel rendeltük... |
zöld felületet alkot a lombozat.
Day five
The fifth day of
training has arrived. Fortunately, our teacher had a good idea, today we only
started at 9 o'clock. I, on the other hand, made the mistake that even though
my phone shows both home and local time, I somehow mixed up the two and woke up
an hour earlier. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't have problems sleeping,
I have problems waking up. This is the hardest part of the day. Anyway, this
way I had time to listen to the daily news in the morning. Anyway, I wasn't
late once all week. Not so the Spanish! They were usually at least half an hour
late, but there were also cases of more than an hour.
Today we listened
to four more performances, and after the coffee break we went to a nearby park
to make a giant group photo with all three groups on it. Then group photos by
nation. When we went back, we had to present the topic we had chosen a few days
ago. We appointed Tamás as spokesperson, so he had the honor (and the job).
Anyway, he gave a fantastic performance, with a small "performance"
at the end, which was also filmed, but only insiders can see it 😊.
After receiving
the certificate of participation in the course, we said a sensitive goodbye to
each other. So far, this has been the most enjoyable course for me, despite the
fact that this topic is not so close to mathematics. But I think that the topic
of sustainable development affects all of us, whether we like it or not. I am
glad that I finally chose this course. I probably would never have come to
Madeira privately.
Our course leader
speaks English very well, of course with a Portuguese accent, but this is not
disturbing at all. He found his voice very well with the group, he was able to
keep the comments well in line, he didn't let the commenters wander too much. In
every group there is a participant who really liked to hear his own voice.
Well, it was here. After a while, however, we didn't like listening so much
anymore... She was the "witch of the north". We realized that
Hófehérke c. in a fairy tale, he is most similar to the evil stepfather.
Another good idea
from our guide was that he brought in his own hobby quite well, it could be
adapted to the topic at one point, and this is the orientation run. In 2008, he
was a member of the small group that started it all, and in a short film we
could see to what level this sport has developed since then.
After last year's
trip to Spain, the most surprising thing for me here in Madeira was that, on
the one hand, many people speak English, and quite well. It was never a problem
to make ourselves understood in shops and restaurants. Of course, they really live
from tourism here.
Turning back to
the buses, I know I've already mentioned it many times, but there is one more
interesting thing. Similar to Malta, here too you have to signal the bus,
otherwise it won't stop, even if you stand at the bus stop. Obviously, one stop
is often a stop for several buses, and the driver obviously cannot figure out
which bus the person standing there is waiting for. And another strange thing,
in the morning, people stand in goosebumps waiting for the bus.
This morning I
managed to capture two "aunties" who were selling flowers in front of
the market dressed in traditional costumes. You don't usually see people
dressed in folk costumes, but the motif and colors appear in several places. I
would not like to wear this clothing, the material is like the material used to
make hammocks here. Even the color scheme is similar.
Madeira's typical
and emblematic drink is poncha. In its traditional version, it is made with
Madeira Rum, honey and lemon. There are several versions of its origin.
According to one of them, it was inspired by a drink made in India called
"pãnch", which had similar ingredients. Its creation is also
attributed to the fishermen of Câmara de Lobos, who consumed it to prevent flu
and other diseases before going to work. There may be something in this, since
one of our Spaniards was sick on Thursday, and our leader recommended this to
him as a remedy for all ailments, attaching the two pictures below.
We tasted it too,
it's delicious. It is served cold, the citrus is cooling, which is very
pleasant in this heat, the honey makes it deliciously sweet, it makes you
drink, but the rum hits you, so you have to taste it carefully.
I thought to give
you some practical benefit from reading my blog, I am attaching the process of
making the poncha:
Ingredients: peel
and juice of 1 lemon; 2 tablespoons of honey; 1 spoon of Madeira rum.
Preparation:
crush the lemon peel in a glass with a mortar and pestle to extract the oils,
then add the lemon juice and a dose of Madeira rum. Then comes the honey. We
mix it well with a special device, which is most similar to our wooden honey
spout, and then pour it into a traditional poncha glass. In my opinion, this
last moment can be omitted, I think it will be equally enjoyable from a
different shaped glass. I only mention it as an interesting fact that people
here are also experimental, they try all kinds of fruit, we tasted one with
orange and passion fruit, but they also make it with strawberries.
And speaking of
what to drink, I will turn to more prosaic matters: tap water is drinkable in
Madeira. Of course, they have their own beer, Coral, which is particularly
pleasant. And, of course, they have their own wine, but it's more of a sweet
liqueur wine, so it's not advisable to drink it in this heat. Some restaurants
serve a thimble after lunch as a company gift.
Their signature
dish is bolo do caco, a bread with garlic and spiced butter. Many places offer
this as an appetizer, but in most places you have to pay for it. If you're not
too hungry, it's even suitable for a dinner. Anyway, it's very tasty. The bread
and bread products here are not very tasty, so the seasoned butter really
enhances the warm bread, which is otherwise a bit salty.
I have often
eaten fish, you would think that it is usually a local dish, but rather it is
made only for tourists. Sweet potatoes are very popular. Black swordfish, as
ugly as they are delicious. I ate that several times. In some places it is
served with fried bananas. And speaking of bananas, Madeira has plenty of them.
It is smaller and tastier than what is available here. There are huge banana
plantations all over the island, but also within the city. They are planted
very densely, the foliage forms a continuous green surface.
But in Madeira,
looking from above, we see a continuous green. I don't know how it is, it's
hot, there's no rain, yet the whole island is green. You could say that the
whole island is a botanical garden, to quote the classics, specifically Tamás.
But you're right, the city is full of parks that would be called botanical
gardens elsewhere.
As a farewell,
some beautiful pictures from the harvest of the past week. We leave tomorrow,
but when we get home is in the hands of God and Wizzair.
